- In pairs: What verbs + to-infinitive? / What verbs + V-ing? In the past, Vietnamese people lived simple lives and valued family and community. They wanted to stay close to their families and worked together on farms. They promised to follow traditions and taught these traditions to their children. Life was hard, but people agreed to work for the good of their families and community. Now, Vietnam has seen significant changes. Many people suggest leading a more modern and comfortable life. They decide to learn new skills and finish studying to find better jobs. Young people plan to shape their futures and learn to make their own choices. They enjoy doing modern activities and entertainment but still prefer traditional celebrations. Many people fancy traveling or working in other countries and do not mind leaving old rules behind. They avoid reusing old ideas that stop them from being successful. Today’s Vietnam is a mix of old and new ways, making life more exciting and diverse.
